The Feature Documentary: About the Film
A young child swings in the park, seemingly unperturbed by a tragic event that occurred long before his birth. And yet, his psyche portrays a completely different story. The tragedy that is The Holocaust has taken a hold of him and tens of thousands of other Descendants of the Holocaust from around the world.

Forever After is the story of how this tragic event has shaped the lives not only of those who experienced it first hand, but their descendants as well. For the first time, we capture a glimpse into the complex psychology of the Descendents of the Survivors of the Holocaust, and how the different worlds they have grown up in, affects how they determine their place in the world, their outlook on life and the future.

The Message

Forever After is a feature documentary that breaks new ground with its unique global perspective on the effects of the Holocaust on the Descendants of the Survivors. The film postulates that irrespective of distinctive cultural environments and circumstances, there are bonds and behavioral commonalities shared by families of Holocaust survivors. The documentary will be a visually compelling tangible record of the consequences, both positive and negative, of the Holocaust’s effects. The film will be an engaging and educational work, with audiences ranging from theater-goers to students, who can reflect upon the longstanding repercussions of war, acts of hatred, and intolerance - subjects of universal concern.

The Scope

Forever After takes us around the world, spending time with wonderful families in the United States, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, South Africa, Germany, Israel, Romania, Hong Kong, and Australia.

The Artistic Approach

The film is being shot in multi-camera Hi Definition with a 1:1.78 cinematic aspect ratio. Unlike typical documentaries designated for TV, which are single camera, 4:3 square aspect ratios, we aim to achieve a look-and-feel more akin to a projected feature film.

We are also shooting many more extreme close-ups and unusual angles than most documentaries, to obtain an extremely personal and introspective quality. The objective is to take the audience into a much more visceral, psychological place and do so in a theater environment.

Hi Definition gives us the intense real feel that also helps the audience connect closer with what they are seeing and experiencing. In addition, by shooting in Hi Definition, we are making it much easier to enable digital projection or transfer to 35mm. film for later projection in theaters and at festivals around the world.

The Production Status

Four segments out of a proposed ten have already been filmed in High Definition video. In November, 2004, segments were filmed in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Sao Paulo, Brazil, and Calgary, Canada. In September, 2005, filming was completed in Johannesburg and Cape Town, South Africa.

We have compiled several of the mesmerizing stories and experiences from South America into a twenty-minute pilot which we believe demonstrates the uniqueness and importance of our project.
